Properties: Insoluble in water, soluble in molten sodium peroxide
Uses: Used as wear-resistant, high-temperature oxidation resistant coating and neutron absorption coating in nuclear reactors. For ceramics, melt-blown on the surface of metals and ceramics to form wear-resistant, corrosion-resistant films. Used to spray semiconductor film. Chromium boride and alumina sintered or hot-pressed products in a micro-oxidizing atmosphere have the practical value of high temperature wear resistance.
Synthesis method:
Pure metal process: Chromium and appropriate amount of boron powder in a vacuum or inert atmosphere at 1600℃ heating or sintering at 1150℃ for 48 ~ 72h, chromium boride CrB, Cr2B, Cr3B2, Cr3B4, CrB2 formation, after hot pressing at high temperature, CrB2, CrB or Cr3B4 can be formed.
Chromium diboride (CrB_2) coating has high melting point, high hardness, high wear resistance and corrosion resistance, coupled with its good chemical inertness and not easy to bond with metal characteristics, as a hard protective coating is expected to meet these special chip processing requirements.
